Provenience
The Lorica Squamata was the Roman scale cuirass: hundreds of small overlapping scales (squamæ), wired to each other and stitched to a linen or leather backing, worn by auxiliary infantry and cavalry, officers, and standard-bearers. Like fish scales the design resisted downward cutting strokes excellently. Printed from the artefact.
