Provenience
The Lorica Hamata — ring mail — is the oldest Roman body armour type, tracing its ancestry to Celtic and Italic traditions of the third century BC and remaining in unbroken legionary service well into the third century AD. Each shirt comprised tens of thousands of individually riveted iron rings, producing a flexible matrix that moved with the body. Printed from the artefact.
